Tulsa voters approved a massive $414 million bond package for the city’s public school district on Tuesday.
The package was broken up into four questions focused on improving Tulsa Public Schools’ building, technology and transportation infrastructure as well as funding learning programs.
School officials said it would have a positive impact on every school site in Tulsa.
But the ballot questions had garnered opposition from local Republicans and the Chamber of Commerce because of its price tag. Voters approved it anyways.
In Oklahoma, bond questions must pass with 60 percent of the vote. The bond questions received support from almost three-fourths of voters.
The state’s only other education bond on a ballot also passed Tuesday night. That bond will pay for new buses at Navajo Public Schools near Altus.
